Amber and Alan

Untitled photo
Amber and Alan got married at the Ridge Lodge up at always beautiful, no matter what time of the year, Lake Tahoe. The Ridge is a ski resort and the lodge is a nice place for a wedding reception and a gorgeous place for a ceremony. You can see all of the valley below as the bride and groom do their vows and it is stunning.

The ceremony was late in the afternoon or early in the evening, depending on your point of view and because it was overcast  the light was perfect for both the ceremony and the formal photos after. And then it started to get dark.

Everybody was feeling pretty happy, especially me and Vesta, because we were getting wonderful pictures, when the power went out. Not the power at the lodge, all the power in Lake Tahoe and because it was overcast, it was dark. Not just a little dark, but pitch black dark. Dark like you were in a mine shaft or an underground cave. That dark. Maybe darker.

And just as it was beginning to look like the wedding reception wasn’t going to happen, the lights in the activity center, where said reception was supposed to happen, went on. Not as bright as they were, but plenty good enough for everybody to see by. The Ridge had turned on their generator.

It didn’t light up all the condos, but it did the activity center and the reception went on without a hitch. And as the party came to a close, the wedding coordinator used the DJ’s mic to tell everyone to drive carefully going down the mountain, because the street lights were still out.

But they went on, just as we started our car, so we had plenty of light and when we got down to the Lake, everything was as it should be. How cool was that? Way cool, that’s what we think.
