Jamie and Jared

Untitled photo

Jamie and Jared wanted their engagement photos done at Jared’s parent’s Ranch, where they had horses. And they wanted a couple photos of them on one of those steeds. So, we brought a long a step ladder and did our best to accommodate.

And as you can see by the photos below, sometimes photographing animals can be a challenge. We had no problem getting the horse to look at the camera when Jamie and Jared squeezed its head between theirs and sorta force him to look. But once they got on, he didn’t didn’t wanna look anymore and all the coaxing we could muster up, wasn’t gonna make him.

However, Jamie’s dogs were much better subjects. So there was that. Also, during one of the poses, Vesta piped up with, “You guys got a pitch for here?” And right off the bat, I knew she was thinking of Grant Wood’s “American Gothic” painting.

They did have a pitchfork, so we did our version of Mr. Wood’s painting in both color and black and white and we also included a copy of the painting at the end of the session along with a Van Gogh and Veermer parody, which is actually kind of wonderful. Just scroll on down and you can see them.

As of August, this “Vermeer Van and Van Gogh American Gothic” was in an exhibition at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. And apparently they don’t know who the artist is, because they have it listed on their website as “Artist Unknown.”

Still, it’s a wonderful painting. We think so anyway.
